MSA Press Conference — Shadow Council Announcement
After the 7th MSA convention on Monday, Nov. 21, the MSA announced our shadow council on Wednesday, Nov. 23. A group of MSA candidates and supporters visited city hall for the beginning of a new term of Toronto city council. We intended to hold a press conference outside of Mayor John Tory’s office to announce the formation of the MSA shadow council and to observe the first session of city council. Instead, we were informed…

Open Letter by Candidates of the Municipal Socialist Alliance
The concerns of the MSA members below are legitimate. A MSA convention did pass a motion without promptly updating our website. In fact, two motions were passed without amendment of the website. With apologies to both, this task slipped through the cracks. This letter will remain published for transparency. As of Oct. 23, the MSA program on “De-fund, Disarm, and Disband the Police! End Racial Profiling!” now reflects the resolution passed on Sept. 14. Further,…

But the mass struggle to smash Israeli settler-colonialism and to win the liberation of Palestinians grew manyfold. Major human rights organizations released landmark reports labeling Israel as an apartheid state. International pressure to lift the…

John Tory, Hands Off Cyclists

In the tweet, Tory stated ‘these cameras are one of the many ways we are working to make our streets safer for all and to further increase enforcement on speeding and reckless drivers across the city.’ Tory’s social…

Municipal Socialist Alliance (MSA) Denounces Anti-Palestinian Racism
Municipal Socialist Alliance (MSA) hopes to endorse school board trustee candidates who oppose anti-Palestinian racism in our schools. We continue to witness that the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) entrenches anti-Palestinian racism by equating anti-zionism with anti-semitism. We saw the TDSB attack Desmond Cole for proclaiming “Free Palestine” at a learning session for senior TDSB educators. We saw Javier Davila, a student equity program adviser for the TDSB, placed on home assignment for sharing resources…
